Overview

Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) that stimulates the body's own growth-hormone release.

    Phase 3 trial (NEJM 2007)

    412 patients with HIV and abdominal fat accumulation, 26 weeks. Visceral fat fell 15.2% with tesamorelin versus a 5.0% rise with placebo; IGF-1 rose 81%. More patients on tesamorelin withdrew because of adverse events.[1]
